Capsicum with Kura Podi ~ Bell Pepper Seasoned with Curried Falvors

There is another entry I totally forgot about that I have made on Super Bowl gathering. This is not something exotic like Super Bowl Snack Series, but gave a twist to my routine capsicum fry by adding curry powder / kura podi (కూర పొడి ). Here is the recipe for you, Enjoy!

Ingredients for  Curry Powder:
Urad Dal - 1 Tbsp
Chana Dal - 1 Tbsp
Sesame Seeds - 1 Tbsp
Coriander Seeds - 1 tsp
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp

Preparation:
Roast the Urad Dal, Chana Dal, Sesame Seeds and Coriander seeds in the non stick pan for  1 or 2 min. (until they turn into light brown color). Let them cool and grind these  along with Red Chili Powder and Salt. Add 1tsp water to make it like a very thick paste (should not be like a powder or should not be like a batter)

Ingredients:
Capsicum / Bell Pepper - 3 medium
Urad Dal   - 1 tsp
Chana Dal - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds  1 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - 3
Turmeric Powder - 1tsp
salt - 1 tsp
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Cilantro - 1 Tbsp and to garnish
Oil - 1 Tbsp

Preparation:

  1. Take a non stick pan and add oil to it.
  2. Once the Oil is hot, add the tempering ingredients Urad dal, Chana Dal, Cumin Seeds and Followed by Mustard seeds. Once the mustard splutter add the curry leaves.
  3. Chop the Bell Pepper and seed out and cut into 1 inch wide cuts.
  4. Add the Bell Pepper pieces to Pan. Fry on high 1 min until the raw flavor goes away.
  5. Add Turmeric, Salt and red Chile Powder and mix well and close the lid and cook for 2 min.
  6. Then Add the freshly made Curry Powder ( you don't have to add the whole powder). Add approximately that covers the bell pepper.
  7. Mix every thing well and Close the Lid and let the bell pepper simmer with curry flavors. ( 2 to 3 min)
  8. Once the bell pepper cooked Add the Cilantro and Turn off the heat.

Serve hot with White Rice. Yummmm! You have got to try this.

Hint:
If you don't have coriander seeds handy you can use coriander powder.

I am sending this entry to Torviewtoronto's Food Palette Green Event.

I am sending this Friday Potluck at Ekta's Kitchen

 Take care until next time.
