Nimbu Chaas ~ Lemon Buttermilk

Nothing can beat cool cool Buttermilk in this summer heat! When I was kid, for any guests that arrive home in hot summer Lemonade and Buttermilk are first destinations to quench their thirst. Lemon and Buttermilk both will cool the body instantly. Buttermilk aids in digestion also. That's why having Buttermilk at the end of every meal is South Indian custom. Today I have tried simple buttermilk with addition of Lemon and that resulted is Lemony Buttermilk! Here is the recipe!

Ingredients:
Yogurt - 1 Cup
cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
salt - 1 tsp
Lime Juice - 1 Tbsp
Water  -1 cup
Ice - 2 cubes ( optional)

*yields - 2 servings

Method:
First grind ice cubes and cumin seeds together, then add yogurt grind until smooth, add lime juice and salt and grind it again. Add 1 cup of water and grind it until it becomes like thick buttermilk. Pour this into glasses (with little high) so that foam will form on top. Serve immediately to cool those Guests!

Notes:

  • For this recipe use always freshly made yogurt. As lime will add some sourness, you don't want to use sour yogurt in this recipe.
  • And also use Green Limes to squeeze the Lime Juice for this recipe.

will be back with another summer cooler recipe,
until then take care, ba - bye
